On Friday February 10, 2006 there was a Small Business Technology Summit in NYC at the Roosevelt Hotel. Charles Hand, President, New York Metro Region, Verizon Wireless, and Scott Vaccaro, Regional VP, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, NYC, gave separate presentations addressing customer service. Lisa McCarthy, Intuit Professional Advisor and Accounting Resource LLC, gave a presentation on using Quickbooks to manage business finances. Harry Brelsford, President, SMB Nation, gave a presentation regarding buying technology. There were also two panel discussions: one on sales and marketing, and one on using technology to communicate effectively. All of the presentations and panel discussions evoked lively give and take from the audience.
In addition to the presentations, there were exhibitor booths from various vendors, business associations and non-profit organizations.
The summit, organized by Marian Banker, President of Prime Strategies and Ramon Ray, Author, Speaker and Small Business Technology Evangelist, was, according to the press release, “targeted to small business owners seeking to grow their businesses through the marriage of best business practices and technology.” Small business owners who attended did indeed walk away with new-found knowledge and advice. Some even walked away with some valuable prizes, including an HP notebook computer, Quickbooks, Office Professional, and a Xerox color laser printer.
The general consensus from those in attendance was that this was a wonderful event, and they look forward to more such summits in the future.
